My ideal job is working as senior counsel for a variety of nonprofits. Following my career as a senior administrator with North Carolina's community colleges, I realized my preference is juggling multiple short-term projects. This realization is what brought me to my position as senior counsel at Capital Development, which is the perfect fit. I offer clients many years of work experience in development, fundraising, marketing, planning, board and project management and communication. I am an organizational change agent, analytical problem-solver and particularly thrive on helping nonprofits reorganize and gain focus.
A native of the Tidewater area of Virginia, I moved to NC during my college years. I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a BA in Journalism and went on to earn a Master's in Higher Education from East Carolina University. My husband, Zeb (Barney) Barnhardt, an attorney/mediator, and I live in the Piedmont area with a second home in the mountains of NC, where we spend as much time as possible. A preferred pastime is hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway. Other favorite activities are fitness walking, reading, writing, entertaining guests in our home, doting over nieces and nephews, dancing and playing golf.
