Campaign Client Spotlight: Dozoretz Hospice House of Hampton Roads

The Dozoretz Hospice House of Hampton Roads opened its doors on April 23rd, 2024 in Virginia Beach – the first freestanding inpatient hospice facility serving the region.

The facility is the vision of many area leaders, but none greater than the late Dr. Ronald Dozoretz and his family who helped found and finance its construction.

CapDev’s Allan Burrows and Kevin Jacques helped facilitate its early organizational and fundraising efforts which went on to achieve $9 million to date of the $10.9 million total cost.

It includes 12 private bedroom suites for residents and welcoming common areas for caregivers and visitors, including a screened porch, chapel, living room with fireplace, and a kitchen. The second floor will include Guest Suites for family members who need to stay overnight to be close to their loved ones during their last few days.

Westminster-Canterbury on Chesapeake Bay and Beth Sholom Village have partnered to manage the Hospice House. In addition to clinical and administrative staff, professionally licensed medical staffing will be augmented by trained volunteers who will carry out a number of activities, including visiting with patients, providing support to family members, and helping to maintain the surrounding gardens.
