New Director of Advancement Hired at Hammond School

Hammond School recently announced the appointment of Susan S. Keenan, CFRE to the position of Director of Institutional Advancement, a search conducted by Capital Development Services.

Sue is responsible for all facets of the PK-12 school’s fund-raising planning and development efforts. A native of Birmingham, Alabama, she is a Certified Fund Raising Executive with over 23 years of experience, 15 years in the non-profit sector as both consultant and executive director.

Prior to relocating to Columbia, Sue served as Executive Director of the Roper St. Francis Foundation in Charleston from 2004 to 2014. Sue and her team successfully lead efforts to revitalize the Roper St. Francis Foundation, taking the Foundation from a grant making organization to a supporting arm of the healthcare system. Most recently, Sue has served as a consultant with SSK Consulting, LLC in Columbia where she has worked with other organizations including Columbia College.

Headmaster Chris Angel said of Keenan’s appointment, “We are ecstatic to have someone of Sue’s caliber and demonstrated success in advancement join our community. She will be an invaluable asset to the Hammond team.”

Sue and her husband, Neel, have five boys: McNeel (’03), Wil (’05), Parker, Jack, and Bane.
